10 Actors Who Took Their Roles Too Seriously
1.Christian Bale
Christian Bale played a role in the film The Machinist. He was advised that the extreme weight loss was seriously hazardous for his health from professionals. However, the actor pushed forward and went ahead with the dangerous measures for his role in the movie anyway.
2. Robert DeNiro
Robert DeNiro took with character Max Cady in the film Cape Fear so extremely that he invested $20,000 to have a dentist make his teeth look like he had been imprisoned for many years. It helped because this is revered as one of the best character portrayals in history.
3. Channing Tatum
Channing Tatum had to work through hours of waxing to get the ultra smooth chest that he showed off in the hit film Magic Mike. It was hard work but so many women are thankful for his commitment to the role.
4. Heath Ledger
Heath Ledger in The Dark Knight actually secluded himself for a month away from any and all people in a hotel room so that he could craft the laugh for his role as the Joker. Can you imagine walking by his room and hearing various evil laughs all through out the night?
5. 50 Cent
Rapper 50 Cent was cast in a role for the movie All Things Fall Apart where he was a cancer patient who was losing the battle. He lost so much weight that he actually became emaciated for the film. The trouble is that not too many saw the film in theatres; however, the photos are chilling.
6. Tom Hanks
Tom Hanks took his role exceedingly seriously for his character in Castaway. He lost over 50 pounds; he grew his hair out, got a blood infection that required surgery due to his prolonged exposure to being in water up to his neck. He really went so far that he put his own life at risk.
7. Halle Berry
Halle Berry did not bathe or shower for fourteen days to get in the mindset of her role in Jungle Fever. She is beautiful, but even pretty people start to smell after two full weeks, this must have been a serious challenge.
8. Natalie Portman
Natalie Portman dropped a ridiculous amount of weight for her small frame and trained extensively for her character’s portrayal in Black Swan. She wanted it to be as legitimate as possible. Therefore, she actually became a ballerina to play one.
9. Daniel Day Lewis
Danile Day Lewis took all of his roles very seriously. However, in The Crucible he actually had the etching tattoos put on his chest for real even when they could have put removable symbols there.
Then in My Left Foot he ended up breaking one of his ribs by accident from staying stationary in the wheelchair for periods of time that are too long.
10. Jim Carrey
Jim Carrey actually took the roll of playing Andy Kaufman in The Man on the Moon so seriously that he pushed his friends and family away from him during the entire filming of the movie. This film ended up becoming a cult classic even though it did not do that great on ticket sales in the box office.
