He’s definitely not a loser! Now, that is what we call humble and respectful! Musician Beck isn’t holding any grudges towards rapper Kanye West, even though the later stormed to the stage (yet again) to protest against Beck’s 2015 Grammys win, and then threw major shade by dissing the “Loser” singer’s art.
The singer beat out Beyonce for Album of the Year at the Grammy Awards on February 8th, and as he took to the stage to receive his award, West made his way up there too, just like he did at the 2009 VMAs during Taylor Swift’s acceptance speech.
As he smiled and returned to his seat, without saying anything, the audience initially assumed West’s protest was a joke due to his prior antics. But, it now turns out that it wasn’t.
The rapper shared his thoughts during the after-show, saying how Beck should hand his award over to Queen Bey herself: “I just know that the Grammys, if they want real artists to keep coming back, they need to stop playing with us. We ain’t gonna play with them no more. And Beck needs to respect artistry and he should’ve given his award to Beyonce.”
However, Beck doesn’t hold any grudges nor does he think any less of West. The 44-year-old singer was full of admiration for the acts he beat in the group and he wasn’t even upset because West tried to ruin his big night: “I was just so excited he was coming up. He deserves to be on stage as much as anybody. How many great records has he put out in the last five years right?”
The “Heart’s A Drum” singer didn’t change his mind even when he found out that West said that he should give his award to Beyonce: “I thought she was going to win. Come on, she’s Beyonce! You can’t please everybody, man. I still love him and think he’s genius. I aspire to do what he does.”
You have to agree, that’s pretty rare in the industry. As for West… Kanye will be Kanye.
